I am partial to the residential exterior painting market. Do one thing well and do it better than your competition. It becomes cookie cutter rather than running around with your head cut off doing all sorts of painting jobs all over the place. Pick the kind of painting jobs you like to do the most and market, advertise for those jobs only. When I get a call for an estimate 99% of the time it's for an exterior. It's what we do. It's what we do best. And my prospects know it. I do paint homeowner fences as well. I always give them an estimate if they have a paintable fence. All of my customers do. It's a quick $700 up to $2000 or more. Were already there. Again, I love to paint exteriors for the homeowner. In my 37 years of painting homes, it's what I enjoy most. Seems to be pretty seamless. The most enjoyable painting for my crew as well. No more surprises! No more running all over the place.
